Testing estimation algorithms and available electoral data
We are starting to deploy our estimation system so it is ready when reliable survey data on Galician elections starts to arrive. We will be publishing a note on what is considered reliable data for our analsys.
As a first step, we perform a check of the algorithms in charge of estimating elected seats. With this purpose, we pull official data for the Galician elections, and count the votes casted at the most dissaggregated possible level, and aggregating them by circumscription (provincial level). So far, we have data from 2001 onwards, at the ballot box section except that first year, which is available only at municipality level.
The following plots should reflect exactly the official results for each party, both globally and at circumscriptions. Parties should appear order by number of seats. A glitch in the code forces the names of the parties to appear uppercase only. TODO list starts growing.
